JR Hinds began his insurance career with New York life in 1994. He quickly developed a strong client base which allowed him to start working exclusively with referrals within the first six months. Here he gained extensive experience and a vision for creating a broader and more extensive offering for his clients. Within five years, JR’s expertise had grown beyond New York Life’s product offerings and in 1999 he launched his own Employee Benefits Brokerage, Hinds and Associates in Portland, Oregon.
Since he began his career path, over 90% of JR Hinds’ business has been developed through personal and professional referrals. It is his unique understanding of what it takes to create trust-based relationships with his clients that continues to distinguish him among his colleagues.
Always committed to providing the most comprehensive service for his clients, over time JR has developed appointments with all of the local insurance carriers. He takes great pride in being uniquely able to assist business owners with employee-sponsored health insurance plans while providing each client a number of choices to meet their individual needs. Since 1994, JR has helped small and medium sized companies, with 2 to 165 employees, design and maintain benefits plans that help them attract and retain quality employees.
As a Registered Health Underwriter (Degree, 2004) and a Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (Degree, 2005), JR knows the needs of small businesses. He is widely regarded for his educational and consultative approach to designing benefits programs that reflect the unique needs of each business and its employees.
